This week, Joi Chaney, our Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Policy and Advocacy, sits down Reverend Leah Daughtry, co-convener of Power Rising, a space for Black women to turn power into action and create an actionable agenda to be implemented in their communities and nationally that leverages social, political, professional, cultural and economic power and influence for the betterment of ourselves, our communities and our country. Together, they discuss the organization efforts amongst black women after the 2016 election and the formation of Power Rising, the group of friends she proudly proclaims as the colored girls and how Black women influenced President Biden to officially nominate the first black woman to the United States Supreme Court.
