About me -- your host, Dr. Kristen Albert:

About my guest, Jannat Veras, Founder/Owner of Jannat Beauty Design

Jannat Veras is a small business owner and operator for over 28 years. After successfully

completing a Diploma in Hair Design and Cosmetology, she went on to complete a teacher

course in the related field. She also completed a business training program. After obtaining

state licensure, she set up her first place of business in 1998.

Currently Jannat operates Jannat Beauty Design as a single operator in her studio. She has part

time assistance with the administrative work of the business. She serves clients from all over

Lancaster County and walks of life. She is fully bilingual/bicultural and serves the Latino

community and other diverse populations with the necessary skills to meet their unique hair

care needs. Jannat is currently exploring expanding her business to include mentoring and

training others in the field and offering additional services to meet the holistic needs of clients.

Jannat is a leader in the Lancaster community. As a successful winner of the 2000 Economic

Development Alliance-Minority and Women Business award she proved her business expertise

and commitment to the community. Her leadership skills were further demonstrated as she

expanded her original salon in 1998 to a larger business. She mentored up to 3 new stylists at a

time and gave them opportunity to earn their own money and develop a client base. Many of

these women went on to establish their own successful independent hair salons. After almost

9 years, Jannat downsized to her current single operator business to accommodate her growing family’s needs.
