Golden Age OTR December 27, 2009 Dave opens the show noting that he has a cold due to his grand kids visiting. Dave mentions listeners in the chat room. “Along Came Larry”, A parody of The Three Stooges is the first song. Next Al Jolson sings “I'm Sitting On The Top Of The World”. The Andrews Sisters perform "Gimmie Some Skin, My Friend" from the Abbott and Costello's "In The Navy". Dave talks about his unemployment history and does a spoof of his friend Steveo calling the unemployment office (this was before things were done largely online). To followup on the skit, Dave plays "Waitin' in Your Welfare Line" #1 atop the Country chart on this day back in 1966. It was Buck Owens' tenth #1 single. Next Dave plays a Polish Polka, “Jak się masz” the Polish phrase is the English equivalent for how are you? Dave plays some big band music and talks about movies from the golden era of music. Next is some more country music, Johnny Cash “A Boy Named Sue” however Dave spliced some names from a Shortwave Listeners Fest to make it relevant to the format. That's the first hour, there's 30 more minutes to go! Special Note: Most of the E-Mail, chat room, and web sites mentioned no longer exist.
