I am thrilled to welcome our guest, Xolelwa ‘Ollie’ Nhlabatsi, to our live broadcast this week.

Xolelwa is a Swati-born South African son, twin, grandson, cousin, nephew, uncle, lover, writer, director, producer, art-loving, dog-loving, cinephile, and Film Director at Rumanya Films. In 2011, he founded Blackweather Productions CC., an independent film company based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

His vision is to be a specialist alternative film company, striving to create once-off, distinctive pieces that will endure above and beyond all the others. Xolelwa’s debut short film, “Lost in the World” was nominated for Best Short Film at Film Africa in London.

His work has been featured in Rolling Stone, Elle, Okay Africa, and ID-Vice where ID-Vice named his film “The Best of The Night” in the New Queer Visions segment at the London Short Film Festival.

He’s currently putting the last touches on two new shorts, “Nefarious Creatures” A neo-noir love letter to Joburg, and “Katlego & Mlungisi” A young sci-fi romance.

Today Xolelwa is going to talk about “Films and entrepreneurship…They are life. He wants people to learn that curiosity is the best policy.

Haha not sure. I love that I can take my frustrations, laughs, fun, sorrow, and world view into a space where I can question them, manipulate them, and fashion them into a cathartic piece of hopefully Art.” Join us Friday, October 7, 2022, at 12:30 PM EDT/ 7:30 PM EAT for our weekly life broadcast, “Speak’n the Truth About Money” to hear this brilliant young creative South African filmmaker take us into his world of films and entrepreneurship.
