Brian is joined by Lisa Patel, the CEO and co-founder of the drug discovery and development company, Istesso. They work in the emerging field of immunometabolism, which aims to find new and better treatments for autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and potentially even various forms of cancer.
Before joining Istesso, Lisa worked at GlaxoSmithKlein for 10 years, as a team leader in the Cardiovascular Centre of Excellence and latterly as a group leader in Clinical Pharmacology and Discovery Medicine. Lisa earned a PhD in molecular genetics, a degree in biochemistry and an MBA.
Her experience and background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology have made her incredibly passionate about curing illness. Not in a piecemeal way, but in a way that keeps patients and their conditions at the centre of cures. She joins us for a conversation about the exciting medical research her team is engaged in as well as her professional journey to the top of such an innovative company.
