Dr. Antonia F. Chen is currently an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Chief of Arthroplasty and Joint Reconstruction at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She also holds the Michael A. Bell Family Distinguished Chair in Healthcare Innovation. Dr. Chen was previously the Director of Arthroplasty Research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Associate Director of Research at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, an Associate Professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, and the Director of Medical Education Curriculum, Musculoskeletal Studies at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College and Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Chen received her BS from Yale University and her MD from Rutgers Medical School, where she graduated with Distinction in Research and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She then went on to attain an MBA from Rutgers Business School and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Dr. Chen completed her orthopaedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh and hear fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty at the Rothman Institute.

Dr. Chen a member of the Knee Society, which is society of the top academics in knee surgery and is an invite only membership, where the candidate must be voted in for acceptance. She was simultaneously voted in as the first female surgeon in the Hip Society, which is a similarly exclusive society.

Along with serving on the editorial board of eight of the top Orthopaedic journals, Dr. Chen is also in the presidential line of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and previously served as president of the Musculoskeletal Infection Society. She has

authored over 390 publications, 45 book chapters, and 4 books, she has won multiple research awards, and has presented all over the world. She is also passionate about giving back to society and participates as a surgeon in the all-female arthroplasty Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach (WOGO) group.
