This research paper explores the link between temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The authors created a machine learning algorithm to predict the presence of OSA in TMD patients using multimodal data, including clinical characteristics, portable polysomnography, X-ray, and MRI. Their model achieved high accuracy, with an area under the curve (AUC) score of 1.00 when MRI data was included. This model could benefit TMD specialists, general dentists, and other medical professionals by improving the diagnosis and management of OSA in TMD patients.
