What are some common reasons people wait for the best time to act? What are some consequences of waiting for the best time to act? How can procrastination and perfectionism be barriers to taking action? How can you identify the good enough time to take action?

Welcome to Stoic Spirituality, where I break down relevant concepts from books and abstract concepts I have thought about as well!

In this episode, we examine the typical justifications for delaying decisions till the "ideal moment" as well as the negative effects of this attitude. We discuss the impact of overthinking and indecision as well as the role of fear, uncertainty, and lack of confidence in delaying action.

We also look at how impatience and perfectionism may be huge roadblocks to action and offer helpful methods for overcoming these traits, looking at how to decide when it is "good enough" to start doing something and to put the emphasis on progress rather than perfection.

A lot of Ryan Holiday’s content is based on the idea of Stoicism, which an ancient Greek school of philosophy, and some points behind it were that virtue, the highest good, is based on knowledge; the wise live in harmony with the divine Reason that governs nature. One common definition you might have heard of is that stoics are not as reactive to the vicissitudes of fortune and to pleasure and pain.
