Eight Penn State Nittany Lions were drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft over the weekend. On today’s show, we’ll revisit where each player landed and what sort of situation they find themselves in at the next level. However, one player is probably more controversial than the rest regarding his decisions over the last year. So, what happened to Kalen King? The former second-team All-American fell to the seventh round, just three picks from the final selection in the draft. We’ll discuss the factors that led to his draft stock falling, and what situation he finds himself in with the Green Bay Packers.

We’ll also discuss the players whose stock is up after spring football for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Which players did the most to move their needle in the correct direction? We’ll give you some of the names we selected. But on the flip side, who is sliding back into the pack? We’ll highlight specific players who need an adjustment in fan expectations.

Penn State draft recap

King wasn’t the only fascinating player from the NFL Draft this past weekend. We’ll review each player’s fit with their new teams and discuss how they mesh at the next level. For one, Olu Fashanu fits very well with the New York Jets on the field.

On the flip side of organizational stability from the Chiefs is the New York Jets. From a schematic and developmental fit, Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu fits very well within the Jets program as the tackle of the future behind Tyron Smith. He’ll get to learn from a Hall of Fame mentor and work on his run-game skills until he gets called into the starting lineup.

Spring practice risers and fallers

Finally, we tie up loose ends from Penn State spring football with a look at the players who made moves. Which players are on the rise? Which players are slipping back. Here’s a snippet of what we discussed on today’s show.

Confidence and strength are sometimes hard to tell apart in the growth of an offesnive lineman. Last season, Vega Ioane played well for a redshirt freshman, but he didn’t show the dominance his 6-4, 350-pound profile hinted at. He was a good lineman with quick feet but didn’t necessarily play fast.

Fast forward to this spring, and we saw a different player. Ioane looked leaner and more confident in his movement. Notably he was looking for work instead of looking lost in pass protection during the Blue-White Game.
