Sandi Toksvig speaks in the debating chamber on Sunday 5th November at 7:30pm. ................................................................................................................ Sandi Toksvig, a much-loved radio and television presenter, began her comedy career whilst at Girton College, Cambridge where she found time to write and perform in the first all-woman show at the Footlights as well as achieve a first-class degree. Since playing Ethel in the long-running Saturday-morning show Number 73, her career has included celebrated series such as QI, The Great British Bake Off, The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge, and The News Quiz. Much of Sandi’s time is devoted to writing. Her work includes more than 20 fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults. In 2019, she became president of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain. Sandi is an activist for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights. She received an OBE in 2014 and in 2015 she co-founded Britain’s newest political party, the Women’s Equality Party.
