Summary
Prendick is in the need of a weapon, so in his panicked state he breaks the arm of a chair off. As he does this, he hears Montgomery coming, and assumes that he is going to be locked in his room, a prisoner until the decide it is his turn to be tormented. He runs to the door and lashed out at Montgomery, causing him to jump back, giving Prendick the chance to run away. Montgomery calls to him, and in a minute runs after Prendick with his attendant and a dog. Prendick runs and runs until he feels slightly safe and he lays down for a moment until he hears the dog and Montgomery's voice. Prendick runs again and into the Jungle where he wades up the stream until he feels protected from Montgomery. He he encounters another creature. The Simian man who was on the beach when he arrived...
