The Moore Theatre was a sumptuous social hub for early Seattle's Gilded Age elite when it first opened in 1907. It was created, in part, to draw in visitors to the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in 1909. The Moore Theatre was primarily a playhouse that presented top-notch entertainment, with 2436 seats and creative amenities. The balcony's design featured gently sloping ramps that led to the second level seating instead of vertical supports. Originally the theatre had an orchestra pit, but unlike many of the early theatres did not have a theatrical pipe organ. The lavish interior of the theater had onyx, marble, stained glass, muses, mosaic flooring, and décor in shades of ivory, old rose, olive, and gold, while the façade was neutral in terms of style.
