Elena Tucker and I became friends through Medium. I found an article she'd written about her city--Aurora, CO-- which also happens to be...MY CITY ( at the time anyway). A few clicks away, and on a beautiful Thursday afternoon ( or was it Tuesday?) we had the first of many coffees. She has the most hilarious stories steeped in her devotion to her family and spiritual journey. The first time we met, although we couldn't look or sound anymore different than we already are, it was amazing to find out that we had shared feelings about America, immigration, family, careers and life in general. Especially since we both love reading and writing. In her words; "Elena Tucker immigrated from, what was then, Soviet Union, Minsk, Belarus, when she was 12 years old & raised in Denver, Colorado. She received her Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Metropolitan State College of Denver & her Master's degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO). SEMO is known as the Harvard of Missouri. (No, that's not a thing, I'm bulls***ing here.) Elena knew she wanted to be a writer since she was 12 yearly old. She wrote ever since, some of it good". In this episode, we talk about: * The first time she saw a color TV (and a Limo) * The scathing reality of immigration in "the old country" (mother Russia) * Her initiation into the detective and mystery genre * Why she quit studying Respiration Therapy in favor of her life (quite literally) * How her mother was nicknamed " The Mosquito" * The time when her non-fluent English speaking father got a job on the spot as an engineer in America and * Some really dope writing and life advice Connect with Elena: https://medium.com/@mysterystrumpet Join other supporters of The Loving Creative Podcast on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/kamgatchassa --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kamga-tchassa-podcast/message
