Although most adults have had sex in their lifetime, in 2019 - sex still remains a taboo topic for many. In this episode of the podcast, Dr. Pia Holecand I shine a light on three highly common sex issues that aren't being discussed, how to identify them and how to begin to work through them. You are NOT alone. Join the conversation and help normalize the discussion to increase awareness and education about these issues that affect many of us and end the stigma. Three common issues are: 1. Lack of sexual desire (both men and women). Often times this is a result of a past trauma, unconsummated relationship (sometimes due to religious beliefs), or lack of self-exploration (i.e. masturbation) 2. Genito-Pelvic Pain/Disorder. This can involve either a constriction of the pelvis that makes intercourse nearly impossible for cis-gendered women, or pain (burning/ripping) with penetration. 3. Erectile Dysfunction/Premature ejaculation. Often times this is a result of psychological factors, not just biological concerns In this episode of the podcast, Dr. Pia Holec is going to address what these issues are, possible causes and ways to begin to resolve them. Dr. Pia Holec is a psychotherapist at Resilience Psychological Services in Chicago where she specializes in working with minority populations in the areas of sex therapy, relationship concerns, family of origin concerns, and trauma.
