I've taken the week to digest the news of DC Comics parting ways with Diamond, which up until now has enjoyed being the sole distributor for all comics and related items. Many are alarmed at this move, which to me feels not only like it was necessary, but a healthy and rational business decision. Comics distribution is, after all, a business. And between Diamond's shocking failures when the pandemic hit, and the accompanying revelation of it's poor resources, DC's parent company AT&T made an emotionless, logical business decision. Feelings and loyalties are not an issue here. It's just basic, smart business.
