This is a SUPER interesting and relevant topic for ANYONE, AND for the world (that's super in need of more kindness) right now! Many of us don't think about how we behave and communicate with others day-to-day. This could cause or add to, difficulties for those who are different to us, who have less privilege, or who identify as being in a minority group. In this episode, we cover some challenges that women of colour, and immigrants face integrating into Canada and the workplace. These are wide-stretching issues, but the personal experiences are from those in Canada. A lighter more inclusive society starts with a conversation (and with awareness of self and others)! 🙏🙏🙏🙏THANKS FOR COMING BY! ______ Credit/HUGE thanks to Daniela Pichardo who held the important workshop mentioned, and offered some great resources below. Other references: Actual Michelle Obama quote from her book Becoming (my bad): “[Y]ou may live in the world as it is, but you can still work to create the world as it should be.” Shout out to YWCA for facilitating this space for me as a mentor: https://ywcavan.org/ 'Othering' explained: http://www.otheringandbelonging.org/the-problem-of-othering/ Mixed queer illustrator: https://www.instagram.com/ashlukadraws/ Mark Freeman stamps out stigma in his work: https://twitter.com/thepathtochange?s=20 I like this IG for educating oneself on them: https://www.instagram.com/them/ ______ Emails to mobilementorpodcast@gmail.com or join us on IG @themobilementor.
