In this episode Iris and Ginger discuss how nature uses the heat of mid July to sort out what seeds will ripen for the fall harvest. This is often a moment when we realize that not all our spring plans are going to make it this year.
Call it a sense of overwhelm or despair or maybe even relief... but some apples must drop in order for the tree to be healthy. Some plants won't survive a summer heat wave and others will. Not because they are "better" but maybe they just had the luck of growing in a spot with some afternoon shade.
Summer calls for us to let go of what's not working and our attachments to what we thought was going to happen. Let go of the illusion of control and the fallacy of sunk costs. The apples that drop are not failures- they are part of the process of ripening.
