Your first trip may just be your last. While many couples dream of a romantic rendezvous, the first trip together is the ultimate relationship test — and all too often becomes a dating disaster. Half of all couples shockingly break up after their first joint jaunt, according to a recent report from Dating.com. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Friday, Hard-boiled New Yorkers threw cold water on the hoopla surrounding the supposedly “extreme” heat dome that hit the city — as forecasters warned it really is going to get worse. Meanwhile, commuters trying to get home to New Jersey faced a nightmare after all NJ Transit and Amtrak trains out of New York were temporarily halted following an equipment failure and a raging brushfire. Gov. Hochul signed a bill that would allow parents to block their children from getting social media posts suggested by a platform’s algorithm, a move to limit feeds critics argue are addictive. And in Decision 2024, Former President Donald Trump said in an interview he wants to give automatic green cards to foreign students who graduate from U.S. colleges, a sharp departure from the anti-immigrant rhetoric he typically uses on the campaign trail.
