In 1989, MLB commissioner Bart Giamatti banned Pete Rose for gambling on baseball.

In 1983, Baltimore Orioles pitcher Tippy Martinez picked off three runners in the same inning for an MLB first and only.

And in 1986, golfer David Feherty won the Scottish Open and then proceeded to lose the trophy after drinking a wee bit too much at a Led Zeppelin concert later on.
