This animal's scientific name of the angler fish is a lophiiformes they are carnivores that hunt with a light on top of their attena and their group name is called a school their environment is in the dark murky waters of the Atlantic and arctic oceans they are formally described as a new discovered species when it was discovered it was first found 3281 ft-4921 ft and the date it was discovered was august 5th 2015 there are different kinds of angler fish like the hairy one did you know angler fish have a lighted dangling lure that looks like a fat juicy worm the angler fish prey close with the glowing lure then pounces the angler fishes glow comes from the luminous bacteria that lives in its lure in some of the angler fish species the male is much smaller than the female the angler fish are often smaller than a foot long
