Cell Block With Serial Killer Neighbors, Vonda Pelto Has Two Almost Fight in Her Office, Scary Story: On Thunderstruck Radio host Sancho Jones is interviewing Vonda Pelto, Ph.D. about her work dealing with a number of serial killers at Los Angeles Men's County Jail from 1979 to 1982 and the resulting book, Without Remorse: The Story of the Woman Who Kept Los Angeles' Serial Killers Alive. In this segment asks for a description of the cell block where her office was, the proximity to the serial killers and other high profile inmates, how often the deputies came by and if she felt physically threatened. Vonda, who was a freshly minted Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist at the time, need the job it changed her life in just about every way imaginable. She tells a story when the Hillside Strangler and Trash Bag Murderer were in her office and then began to argue about how much makeup a woman should wear. The discussion got heated and Vonda began to feel nervous as it was impossible for her to get out of the office, should they come to blows, without going right next to them. Vonda, getting fed up, stood and ordered both of them out of her office. The handsome and charming Kenneth Bianchi, who killed 11 women, came up to her and patted her on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry Doc, I won't anything happen to you." This sent chills up her spine as she realized on truly slick he was and she kept thinking about those women he murdered.
