Even though Jeff hasn’t met today’s guest in person, he has a lot of respect for him and is a big fan! Brad Leavitt, President of AFT Construction, is Jeff’s podcast guest. He grew up in the construction industry in Southern California and went through a Construction Management Program while attending college at Brigham Young University in Utah. He participated in a mission in Argentina for 2 years, where he learned the Spanish language and culture, which gave him a new perspective on life and communication.
“A true leader is not who you are, but who you can be” is Brad's philosophy. Brad started AFT-A Finer Touch Construction 13 years ago. They are located in Scottsdale, Arizona. When he began AFT he had a luxury home industry general contractor goal in mind for the company's direction and has always followed his roadmap with patience. He had his share of roadblocks and has taken risks along the way but kept his focus on the success journey of AFT. He credits his highly competent, skilled and confident staff for the success of AFT.
AFT focuses on the client experience and the incredible journey of building their dream home. Brad explains that for a company to succeed, they should always seek to advance the client's experience, company processes, systems and brand. Every day, Everyone at AFT tries to be better than they were yesterday by learning and collaborating as a team and finding the positives, not the negatives, every day. The company has worked successfully with many well-known or athlete clients. Brad says they are all great people just like us who want to hire the right trustworthy company to perform when it comes to building their dream home.
Both Jeff and Brad belong to a NAHB Builders 20 group. They discuss how the group is helpful and provides value to like-minded people in the building industry. Everyone is in different markets with different insights to help each other with business decisions, different building methods, products, practices, accountability, HR issues and culture in the workplace to take back to your region.
Brad has hosted his podcast Brad Leavitt Podcast (formerly AFT Podcast) for the past four years. He has a wide array of selective guests and famous people on the podcast that cater to Marketing, Entrepreneurship and some construction. Different executives who have built incredible companies share quick insights and knowledge with the audience.
Brad is very active, balancing his work and family life. He keeps up with his wife (who is an interior designer at AFT) and their six children, playing golf and cold plunging.
