On this episode of "What’s Mine Is Yours With Tiffany Woys,” Tiffany talks to Mega Superstar songwriter Kent Blazy who co writes with Garth Brooks.
The first song Garth and Kent penned together was "If Tomorrow Never Comes," which became the first number one song for both. The friendship and writing partnership continued as Garth included eight more of their songs on his albums.
Four more of theirs songs captured the number one slot:
"Somewhere Other Than the Night", "Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up)", "It’s Midnight Cinderella", and "She’s Gonna Make It.”
Here is an excerpt from this episode.
"But the song that means the most to me outta any song I've ever written is if tomorrow never comes. Garth was cleaning churches and selling boots and I had lost my publishing deal and we just sat down, wrote this song, we pitched it around for a year.
Nothing happened. We thought okay, maybe we need to rewrite it. So we were gonna rewrite it, and he got a call to come play at the Bluebird one night and he played that song, and somebody who had passed on him for the third time that week said, "Maybe we missed something. Why don't you come back in?"
And so it's just, it meant a lot to me that this kid who is nobody all of a sudden has a record deal. And it's because of my song that he got to be able to take the chance to turn into Garth Brooks."
