In the midst of a hectic holiday season, WNET Up Next pauses to take a look at Live From Lincoln Center with Producer Douglas Chang. The iconic series premiered on PBS in 1976 and has presented an amazing array of concerts, ballets, and theatre pieces from Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts here in New York, winning 17 Emmy Awards and two Peabody Awards in the process.

Douglas Chang, who began his broadcast career at WNET with the arts show City Arts, has had a varied career in public media including stints at POV and at KCET in Los Angeles. He has been with LFLC since 2012 and shares with WNET Up Next host Tom Stewart stories about the many challenges and exciting process of capturing live performances on video.

On December 31 at 8pm, Live From Lincoln Center will present a special New Year’s Eve concert with the New York Philharmonic from David Geffen Hall. The evening, hosted by Bernadette Peters is called “Celebrating Sondheim” and will feature vocal performances by Tony Award-winning actress Katrina Lenk, and orchestral suites of Sondheim’s music from Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Assassins, and Sunday in the Park with George, among others.
