How to end a conversation at a networking event. Ending conversations at networking events is challenging for many emerging leaders. You don’t want to sound impolite. You don’t want to be rude or offend your conversation partner. But at the same time, you don’t want to be stuck with a rambler or in a pointless, boring conversation.

Ending conversations is challenging but it’s not impossible. For leaders, it’s incredibly important that you’re able to end conversations when you need to.

Your time is precious. You need to make sure that the time you spend networking is with people who matter for your career or business.

In addition, being able to confidently end conversations makes you look like a leader. It shows that you’re taking control of the conversation and taking control of your time.

When I started networking, I didn’t know how to end conversations gracefully. I thought it was rude and impolite so I would just let the other person talk. I ended up wasting a lot of time at networking events, not meeting people I wanted to meet and missing out on business opportunities.

Since then I’ve learned how to end conversations gracefully at networking events and I’ve built the courage to do so. And in this podcast episode and related YouTube video, I share my strategies with you.

If you want to know how to end conversations at networking events, listen to this episode below to get my eight strategies you can follow. I share both nonverbal and verbal cues you can use to indicate you’re ending the conversation.

I also share many sentence examples that you can say to your conversation partner to end the conversation gracefully.
