Erika speaks to Matt about the importance of purpose, measurement, and transparency in creating impact, and his experiences as CEO of Street League.
Matt is Managing Director of Trust Impact, a data and impact consultancy that helps nonprofits and social impact organizations to measure and report impact from a more transparent, strategic and pragmatic viewpoint. He was previously CEO of Street League, the UK’s leading sport for employment charity where he launched an innovative online impact dashboard showing real time transparent impact data including all the young people Street League were not able to help.
Matt is Chair of Football Beyond Borders, a charity using football to engage young people in secondary schools and help them stay in school to achieve better GCSE results. He is also a trustee of People's Postcode Lottery Children, Support and Care Trusts and in 2020 was made a Member of the Venerable Order of Saint John for his service as a trustee of St John Ambulance.
In 2017 Matt was appointed to The Guardian Public Leaders editorial advisory board, was one of the top charity CEOs on social media (#SocialCEOs 2015/2016) and in 2014 was selected as one of the top 5 people to follow on Twitter on Social Isolation and Underemployment. Number 10 Downing Street chose Street League to be its first ever official volunteering partner in 2011.
All of this is underpinned by a strong academic record which includes an MBA with Distinction from Nottingham University and a scholarship from Harvard Business School where Matt undertook their world-leading Strategic Perspectives In Non-Profit Management Course in 2012.
