20:17Send us a text In today's episode, I'm happy to have another guest. What do you get when you blend 24 years of international adventures, three growing daughters, and a natural gift for connecting with others? Meet our fascinating guest, who's transformed her journey through Dubai, Amsterdam, London, and California into a unique approach to coaching that touches hearts across continents. Her path to coaching is as colorful as her passport stamps. Starting as a parenting trainer, she noticed something fascinating during her group sessions - beneath the typical parenting questions lay deeper patterns and challenges. This spark of insight led her to pivot into one-on-one coaching, where she could help people unpack not just their suitcases, but their full potential. With three daughters (19, 16, and 12) and a lifetime of cross-cultural experiences, she brings authentic wisdom to every coaching session. Her specialty? Supporting fellow expats, particularly women who've embarked on the bold adventure of international life. Because who better to guide you through the maze of cultural adjustments than someone who's navigated it all while keeping a family thriving? Some might raise an eyebrow at coaches who specialize in their own life challenges, but my guest sees it differently. Her eyes light up as she explains how living through these experiences allows her to truly understand her clients' journeys. It's not just empathy - it's the kind of deep recognition that makes clients feel instantly understood. Today, she's passionate about helping women rediscover their confidence, especially those feeling somewhat lost between time zones and life transitions. Through her work, she's proving that every challenge overcome becomes a lantern to light someone else's path. Now that's what we call turning global experience into golden wisdom! ✨ You can find her here: https://www.anelor.coach/ Support the show Thanks for listening today! 9:24Send us a text In this episode, I’m announcing the launch of a three-week email series designed to help you gain clarity on your next career move. Launching next week , this series is perfect for the slower pace of summer, allowing you to reflect and plan while still enjoying your time off. The series requires only 5 to 15 minutes of your time on weekdays, leaving weekends free to relax or catch up. NOW is the time for those of you feeling unfulfilled in your current roles, struggling with motivation, or dreaming of something different but feeling stuck. The email series is free when you subscribe to my weekly newsletter, " Be Curious ." If you’re already signed up, expect an email asking if you’d like to join. --- Now, let’s move on to this week’s tip for building your curiosity muscle and welcoming discomfort for growth. A favorite tool of mine for tracking progress is a jar where you can add a bead or a piece of paper whenever you accomplish something challenging. This week, I’m focusing on networking , a common pain point for my clients. If you hate networking, feel unsure of what to say, or think it’s a waste of time, you’re not alone. Here are three steps to make networking events more enjoyable: Identify the Benefits: Reflect on how the event could benefit you and envision the kind of people you’d like to meet and interact with. What would they say to you? What kind of profiles would they have? Visualize yourself: Imagine yourself showing up in the way you want others to show up. Think of one valuable thing you can talk about in advance to shift your focus from what you can gain to what you can offer. Set a Challenge: Create a small, manageable goal for the event, like talking to three new people or getting a new contact’s information. This challenge should push you out of your comfort zone to promote growth and learning. The purpose of these steps isn’t just to make you uncomfortable but to help you learn and gain a new perspective on your capabilities. View it like a game, where completing the challenge unlocks the next level of self-discovery. As always, thank you for joining me today. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review to help grow the show and reach more people. Remember, striving for a career that brings joy and fulfillment is possible. Send us a text In this episode, I discuss the challenges and opportunities brought by changes in life, Because life is always a balance of positives and negatives (50/50), how we think about our circumstances greatly influences our experience. I encourage you to recognize that you do have choices, even if they might not always seem ideal. Feeling stuck or overwhelmed often results from a "thought error" where we trick ourselves into believing we have no options, leading to feelings of frustration and resentment. I ask you to answer this honestly: "How much time do you spend in "BS mode" (Blame and Shame)?" where you either blame yourself or others and feel powerless. Instead, I invite you to bring in some curiosity by asking, "What are my options?" This question opens up creativity and helps us see possibilities rather than limitations. I provide practical strategies for managing responsibilities, such as creating flexible schedules, outsourcing tasks , and establishing a routine that works for everyone. I also stress the importance of self-compassion during times of stress and change. It's ok for our brains to feel scared about new situations, but we can use our prefrontal cortex to plan and reassure ourselves. And I remind you of the comparison trap, particularly with the curated perfection seen on social media. Instead, I challenge you to define your own version of success and what feels good and manageable for you. Another key principle I share is to aim for "B-minus work" rather than perfection. This concept, inspired by Brooke Castillo, is about recognizing that doing a good job (80%) is often sufficient and trying to achieve the last 20% of perfection can be disproportionately draining. Simplifying and balancing efforts across different areas of life can prevent feelings of being stuck and overwhelmed. In conclusion, I encourage you to make life easier by defining your own standards of success and balance. Embrace what feels natural and easy without guilt or comparison. Understand that while pushing through discomfort can be beneficial, it's equally important to simplify and streamline where possible to maintain overall well-being. Thank you for tuning in. Send us a text On this last day of the month of May, there’s a saying I love and wanted to share with you, even if just for a couple of hours. You can take it into June as I’m going to talk more about our image, including how we feel in our bodies and how it affects us and our success, however we might define it. Here’s the saying for the beautiful month of May: “ En may, fait ce qu’il te plait “- which translates as “ in May, do as you please ” Originally talking about the weather and one shall dress for it, it is interesting to me how the idea of pleasure can change our perspective on things. So lets’ dive into this topic that’s crucial for sustaining our motivation and interest in our professional lives: how do we define and find pleasure in our work? What is Pleasure in Work? Pleasure: "a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment." But pleasure isn't just about fleeting moments of happiness or satisfaction. It’s deeper. It’s that feeling of being truly engaged , where time flies by and you’re deeply immersed in what you’re doing, also described as a state of flow by some. It’s about finding joy and fulfillment in the tasks and challenges that make up your workday. For some of my clients, especially nonprofit leaders, pleasure might come from seeing the tangible impact of their efforts on the community. For others, who are considering a career transition, it might be about discovering new passions and aligning work with personal values to see the impact of what they're doing everyday. Why Pleasure Matters? - it sustains motivation : When you find pleasure in your work, it’s easier to stay motivated, even during tough times. This intrinsic motivation is powerful and can keep you going when external rewards aren’t enough. - it reduces burnout : Pleasure acts as a buffer against it. When you’re engaged in tasks that are enjoyable to you, you’re less likely to feel exhausted and disillusioned by your work. - it increases creativity and productivity : You’re more likely to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions when you are having fun. - it contributes to your overall Well-Being: finding pleasure in your work contributes to overall well-being. It enhances your mental health and makes work feel less like a chore and more like an integral part of your life’s journey. Whether grappling with neurodivergence or striving for achievement, my message for you today is: you owe yourself compassion, not the burden of the impossible. Then, I invite you to braindump all the things you wish you could delegate and pick 1 where you could ask for some help right now. Brainstorm some ideas to put it into action and let me know what a difference it makes. Have a great WE! Support the show Thanks for listening today!
