Fighting gender inequity in the business sector serves everyone, including men.

Although debate about barriers to work for women, especially those from ethnically marginalized groups, are usually centered around what women can do, a growing movement is targeting men and their responsibility directly. That work is asking men to break free of the masculinity boxes to understand that male privilege in the workforce hurts everyone, including men themselves.

In Episode 22 of Campus 10178, the ESMT Berlin podcast, we speak with Sandra Ondraschek-Norris, vice president for global learning at MARC, Men Advocating Real Change, a program of the international nonprofit Catalyst, Inc. MARC challenges and inspires male leaders to leverage their privilege and responsibility to be advocates for equity and accelerate the creation of inclusive workplaces. Ondraschek-Norris details the research on the barriers to male leadership in gender equity initiatives and shares stories of how it is changing (and should change) in the corporate world.

“Develop your inclusive leadership skills. Educate yourself about inequities and the root causes of inequity. You will be unlikely to develop and grow and be successful as a leader if you‘re not successful at leading inclusively.” – Sandra Ondraschek-Norris
