Eternal Life

5 Realities that must be true if you want eternal life:

• You must have a new birth - John 3:1-8, Heb 4:13
  • Modern often charismatic term is “born again”
  • Ez 36:25-27 Jesus’ meaning of baptism Mk 16:16, Acts 2:38, 1 Pet 3:21, Rom 6:3-5
  • Jn 1:10-13 born of water and spirit
  • Cornelius was “good” but was told to find Peter to be told what he needed to do
  • Gal 3: 26-29
  • Gal 5: 22-33 (results of new birth)
• Recognition of Spiritual Truths
  • Jn 3:9-15
  • Even Nicodemus didn’t recognize the truth and he was “the” teacher of the times
  • A lot of times people we try to reach have a failure the see the truth
  • Rom 7:7-8
  • The “natural” person is hostile to spiritual truth
  • 1Cor 2:14
  • What we need to know to experience eternal life is to recognize Christ and who he is. Obedience to Him
  • Lk 24-27 – Jesus is our teacher
  • Jn 12: 32 If you want eternal life recognize and look to Jesus just as the Israelites looked to the staff. We’ve been bitten by the poisonous snake of sin and unless we commit to belief and faith in Christ we are lost
  • Is 45:12-22
• The real reason(s) for condemnation
  • Jn 3: 16-21
  • Why do people go to hell? Because they turn away from God and CHOOSE to go there.
  • Ez 33:11
  • People will be condemned because they choose to ignore Christ’s invitation.
  • People will be condemned because they love the darkness more than the light.
  • Until we realize WE are the reason for our OWN condemnation and change we will be lost. Everyone who goes to hell CHOSE TO GO THERE.

• Realize Jesus’ place of preeminence
  • Jn 3:22-30
  • We must decrease so Jesus can increase
  • We should be very careful to not live our lives in such a way as to draw the spotlight to us and away from Christ
  • Col 1:18
  • To truly live we must give more of ourself away
  • Ps 115:1
  • Gal 6:14

• Receiving Jesus’ Testimony and Obeying
  • Jn 3:31-36
  • V36 believe (Heb/Gk word is Obey)
  • V36 “hs” (will receive)
  • Your reality has changed in the present when you obey Christ
  • Believe and Trust
  • The biggest room in your house is the room for improvement
