Colin McDonagh first supported a contingent workforce while working in the hospitality industry when he connected kitchen porters and chefs to their next temporary gig. Helping people through career transitions was an instant passion for Colin.
“I think it was just the sense of achievement,” he says, reflecting on his start in the world of talent and recruitment. “The thing that attracted me the most was that ability to help people find the right job opportunity and connect them to it.”
Colin’s journey in contingent workforce management led him to his current role as Facebook’s Global Program Manager, where he manages thousands of contractors across the world. Given his role, he spends a lot of time shaping the workplace of the future.
In this episode of Forge Ahead, Colin talks about the challenges and opportunities in this new world of global work, including the logistical questions that come up when employers work with talent in different countries. He also shares how he’s created productive virtual work environments — that aren’t overtaken by Zoom meetings.
