Join us in this exclusive podcast where we sit down with San Francisco International Airport's (SFO) Sustainability Director Erin Cooke, and the airport's Net Zero Lead, Courtney Carroux. It's no secret that San Francisco International Airport places sustainability at its heart. Whether that be by making their buildings energy-efficient, promoting electric vehicle usage or supporting the development of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), its clear the airport is doing a lot to protect the environment. In the first part of this two-part series, we discuss some of the airport's new and exciting initiatives like using green infrastructure on flight paths to safeguard worker's health and safety. We also dissect SFO's Zero Carbon plans to better understand its positive impact. "To reach Net Zero Carbon, a big part of that is electrifying our buildings on campus. About 92% of our Scope 1 Emissions come from Natural Gas usage (from our buildings)". Be sure to keep an ear our for the second part of this podcast, where we will content if SFO are doing enough to control residual emissions and pollutants while also getting an insight into their community relations.
