I changed my career recently at age 47. (I have actually changed it a couple of times but the latest one is the best).
For 20 years I have worked in pathology as well as being a yoga teacher and a marriage celebrant.
At age 45 I left my career as a yoga teacher, closed my studios, and studied to be a marriage celebrant. I had happily been working in pathology and celebrant work until about 4 months ago when i decided to leave pathology and move into the funeral industry.
I have been employed as a full time receptionist and memorial consultant at a crematorium Monday - Fridays and I officiate weddings on the weekends.
When I made up my mind to change career, I did not once take my age into consideration, as I am a very approachable person and knew that I would land safely somewhere that suited me. I only had 2 interviews and I accepted the second offer.
