We will begin our journey into Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with a brief discussion of etiological associations, followed by development of the B and T cell from the common lymphoid progenitor. It begins with the master transcription factor PAX5 and NOTCH 1 for the B and T cell respectively. This is followed by a series of steps involving heavy and light chain re-arrangements, for the B cell, and T cell receptor gene rearrangement for the T cell.
Chromosomal and oncogene aberrations are discussed as well.
