Episode 6: Battlestar Galactica, sci-fi at the Emmys, The Walking Dead, Quantum Leap, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and more
Manage episode 272928170 series 2772903
There are those who believe… that the rebooted Battlestar Galactica is TV’s greatest ever space opera. We hear the sound of Cylons as we set coordinates for classic episode “33”, in this, the latest episode of Robby The Robot’s Waiting.
Your regular podcast crew is joined by Sari Cohen, a journalist based in LA. She covers music and live entertainment for AXS, writes for InLove Magazine, and is an on-air correspondent/associate producer for Hollywood First Look Features. Sari and regular hosts Tanavi, Richard and Dave, discuss the 21st-century version Battlestar Galactica. Is it as good as its reputation? (Hint: yes.)
While preparing for this episode, we learned that Michael Hogan – who plays Saul Tigh in the series – is very unwell following an accident at a fan convention. Kind supporters are raising money now for his treatment, and you can contribute at https://www.gofundme.com/f/michael-hogan-fund
As Watchmen becomes the big winner at this years Emmys, we ask if the major awards are finally taking sci-fi seriously – or is it just a blip? And with the news that The Walking Dead is actually coming to an end, we ponder whether this is the right time for TV’s biggest zombie invasion to shamble off into the sunset.
Elsewhere, The Mandalorian season 2 takes us back to a galaxy far, far away, while – theorising that a podcast could travel within its own lifetime – we get nostalgic for Quantum Leap. We also give our verdicts on new Ghosts, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Away. And that’s before we’ve got to She-Hulk, The Dark Crystal and WandaVision, in Robby The Robot’s Waiting, the podcast leading a ragtag fugitive fleet. So say we all!

0:49:52 – The news! The Walking Dead, Marvel’s She-Hulk and WandaVision, The Mandalorian, The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance and more.
