Hello and welcome to the very first Blue Water Running Podcast! Blue Water Running was designed to feature and celebrate the accomplishments of high school and collegiate cross country and track and field athletes from the Blue Water Area of Michigan.
In this episode, we will be chatting with Camden Khon, a 2023 Armada graduate and a current freshman at Spring Arbor University. Camden runs cross country, indoor, and outdoor track for the Cougars and had a strong first year thus far. He was the team’s top runner several times throughout the cross country season and cracked the top-ten all-time list with an 8K personal best of 25:41. During the indoor track season, he was named the Crossroads League Athlete of the Week and also claimed a conference title in the mile, running 4:12. His distance medley relay placed third at the NAIA National Indoor Championships, breaking the school record and earning all-American status in 9:55. Fun fact: Camden’s uncle was on the previous DMR school record relay team.
Full disclosure here, Camden is my oldest child. However, despite our relationship, he is a Blue Water Area runner and his accomplishments speak for themselves. Talking with Camden gave me a risk-free opportunity to work through the technical details and glitches of the very first podcast with someone familiar (and trust me when I say there were quite a few…) Our trial and error helped create a better podcast experience for our future episodes and guests, as I'm sure you'll notice in the sound quality improvement from the first episode onward. I appreciate your support and understanding as we dive for the first time into the world of podcasting!

After the recording of this episode, Camden went on to earn All-American status in outdoor track as part of the Spring Arbor 4x800 relay team, placing fourth with a school-record time of 7:29.66. Camden finished his freshman outdoor season with personal bests of 14:25 in the 5000 meters and 3:54 in the 1500 and was named the Spring Arbor University Freshman Athlete of the Year.
Once again, thank you so much for tuning into today’s Blue Water Running podcast. I can’t wait to feature more cross country and track and field athletes from the Blue Water Area…stay tuned because it might just be YOU!
