Growing up, our teachers handed us grades. Every A told us that we were succeeding, that we shouldn't worry. But after college, there are no grades. It's up to us to figure out how we're doing, and that can lead to lots of anxiety, confusion, and the general feeling that we don't know what we're doing with our lives.

Today's guest, Jamie Burton, can relate. She's a 24-year-old media personality (and old friend of mine) who currently lives in Savannah, GA. She graduated from Penn State University in 2020 with a degree in broadcast journalism and the intention that she'd spend the rest of her career reporting on the news.

But that's not how it's panned out.

On today's episode, we discuss:

  • Why she left her on-air TV job in Savannah, GA, just 10 months after getting it (1:17)
  • How young people today view work differently than prior generations (9:26)
  • Her new podcast and long-term goals for the media company she's launching (14:15)
  • The revolving door of relationships in our lives (26:20)
  • Learning to accept that we don't know where our lives are going to take us (30:10)
  • Stories from her summer interning at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (36:16)
