Dr. Turabi is a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist and Fellowship Trained in Pain Medicine. He currently is in the US Army Reserves and is Chief of Pain Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

In this episode Dr. Turabi describes a dramatic effort to save one of his unit’s nurses when stationed at Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in Kabul, Afghanistan. He volunteers to go outside the wire in order to obtain critical medicine at a local hospital and finds himself in the middle of an ISIS terrorist attack on that very hospital where gunman dressed as doctors staged the attack. Dr. Turabi also talks about his experiences treating casualties from the theatre of operations at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and using his expertise in pain medicine to advance treatment for wounded warriors.
