For over a century the modern healthcare system has relied primarily on medications and surgery to treat most of the ailments patients face. While these advances have vastly increased our longevity and health, there are times when these treatments don’t work, or even worse, have unintended side effects or other consequences. Today, patients have become increasingly frustrated with these limitations and are looking for alternatives. Fortunately, osteopathic physicians have an alternative literally at their fingertips: Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Initially developed 150 years ago by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, OMT combines the art of hands-on care with the science of modern day medicine. Many patients in the US are not aware of the unique training of osteopathic physicians and OMT. However, those who have been treated with OMT are quick to point out that we are healthcare's best-kept secret! Rollin’ Bones: The Osteopathic Podcast seeks to pull back the curtain and introduce the general public to the power of osteopathic medicine and OMT. We discuss the conditions we treat, the philosophy behind our approach, and the science that supports it. Anyone interested in harnessing their body’s healing capacity will find this show enlightening and informative.
