This week on the podcast, Jess is joined by Melanie Van Schelven, an Oral Health Therapist at her practice The Face Place. Mel specialises in children’s dental health issues, and takes a holistic approach to addressing the underlying cause of dental health problems. In this episode, we’re taking a deep dive into mouth breathing, crowded teeth, tooth decay, airway health, and so much more.
In this episode, we cover:
> What it means to take a holistic approach to children’s dental care, and how we need to be looking at more than just the teeth and gums when tackling any issues.
> Why conventional dental appointments aren’t addressing the root cause of dental health problems.
> The common causes of mouth breathing and why it is important to get your child assessed if you notice them consistently breathing through their mouth instead of their nose.
> The relationship between enlarged tonsils and adenoids, lip and tongue ties, and dental development in children.
Mel is an incredible source of knowledge when it comes to oral health, so if you’re concerned your child may have some dental health problems and you want to learn more about a holistic approach to healing, this episode is the one for you!
