Exploring my trauma made me uncover my wounds and dig deeper. And what I found hurt. But what I learned is:
Signs you were parented through unhealed wounds:
• It felt like nothing was ever good enough
• They were hard to connect with and feel close to
• Boundaries were not allowed or respected
• Used their role as 'the parent' to dominate
• Their needs took priority over yours
• Used guilt, manipulation and were overly critical
• They were explosive, chaotic, or unpredictable
• You were afraid to say how you felt
• You felt less than, unseen, and misunderstood
• You became hypervigilant, walked on eggshells
anticipating the shoe to drop
• Your needs and feelings were unimportant
