Join me as I interview Nicole Windenberger. A self-described multi-potentialite (someone with many interests and pursuits), Nicole supports individuals and groups – helping them harness their full potential through the mediums of food, architecture, education and culture and on a more subtle level - meditation, yoga, integrated brain functioning and higher consciousness. Her work: https://econico.org. Nicole is also developing a new website recipesforbliss.com intended to give people an Ayurvedic roadmap to their food choices and lifestyles.
Nicole grew up in Fairfield, Iowa (nicknamed “Sili-Corn Valley”), a unique small town with an international community due to the presence of Maharishi International University and its reputation as the epicenter of Transcendental Meditation (“TM”) in the U.S. Living in tune with the laws of nature (a key component to adopting an Ayurvedic lifestyle), Nicole was comfortable from a young age observing the impact of the outer world on her inner world – her physiology and consciousness. In other words, the world was her laboratory.
To Nicole, “idea synthesis” means designing your life to meet your goals. “Many people live by default in ways that hinder them.” Lifestyle design synthesizes architecture, lifestyle science, environment, and manifestation or the power of intention in to your daily routine. “Your daily routine is essentially a structure and with some tools, you can organize this structure to support your goals. You want to tune in to the laws of nature and flow with them instead of against them.”
Designing a business class for airlines with a focus on Ayurvedic principles is on Nicole’s radar. “There are so many passengers who would benefit from a few tweaks. For instance, coffee and alcohol imbalance the vata dosha (the one most closely allied with the air and space elements), yet they are the most commonly served beverages on airplanes. Instead, airlines could serve a tea that would calm vata. There is a market for organic, high vibe, sustainable elements. If one airline adopts this approach, others will soon follow suit. I would like to see Ayurveda come to the helm in the hospitality sector, in general. There is a luxury hotel brand called Six Senses. They combine a luxury vibe with sustainability. In the past, people associated sustainability with a new age, hippy vibe. That perception is changing however and there is a demand for this approach – especially from high-powered execs. Most execs have discovered that if they adopt a sustainable lifestyle, they can maintain the high level of energy that their career demands.”
“Creativity is what I am all about – the ‘life by design’ work I do is all about helping clients structure their environment for maximum creativity. Creativity is always present at the very subtle level of the mind, but we have to bring it up to the surface level in order for it to manifest. The process of bringing the creative thoughts to the surface is very delicate. Your environment has to support this process. Regular practice of TM restores the liveliness, the vibrancy of creativity. The mind is a treasure house of impressions and TM enables us to make connections at a very refined level.”
“Your video presentation – ‘Quality of Food = Quality of Life’ – it’s currently on YouTube – you said you originally gave it in French to a French audience.” “Yes, my first presentation about food was in French – because the French are very much in
