In this episode, Rachael, Rhonda, and Nikki go over Essentria’s Blending guide which shows how much essential oil you need to add to a carrier oil to reach your desired dilution.

The blending guide is based on Health Canada’s guidelines that 20 drops = 1ml

We stay on the conservative side, and agree with the 20 drops = 1ml

The Blending guide is ideal to reference when

  • Blending by drops and need to know how many drops to add to a certain amountof ml of carrier oil.
  • It is important not to go over the 5% dilution is most situations.
  • Do NOT round up your drops. If a partial drop is recommended, round down to the last full drop. Example: 5.5 drops would mean you can put up to 5 drops.
  • It is better to have a lower percentage of essential oils and apply the blend more often, than a higher percentage.

Remember LESS IS MORE! Start at the lowest dilution. If needed you can gradually increase the essential oils used.

Don’t forget to print off your dilution guide. You can laminate it for long term use!

Stay tuned for episodes #32 and #33 where we dive deeper into safe dilution.
