In this episode, Nikki interviews Danae Robinett about the benefits of yoga and aromatherapy.

Danae Robinett is a yoga teacher based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

She’s been teaching for 19 years and a retreat leader for 12. A nurturer by nature, she's highly skilled at providing adaptations where all abilities are honoured and challenged. And she is also her father’s primary caregiver as he faces cancer the 3rd time.

  • How she started her journey into yoga
  • The importance of being mindful and respectful of your limitations in yoga
  • How she started to use essential oils for herself and in her practice
  • The importance of selecting the right oils
  • Diffusing in large common spaces
  • Selecting essential oils that pair with the energy you want in the session
    • Morning yoga - more uplifting oils
    • Evening yoga - more relaxing and grounding oils
    • If you need grounding - selecting wood/tree, root essential oils
    • If you feel anxious - selecting tree and rool oils
    • If you feel high energy - bergamot
  • Not overwhelming the body with too many oils during a session
  • Benefits of yoga during pregnancy
  • Ways to use essential oils during a session
    • If using one oil - diffusing
    • If using multiple oils - apply diluted to the inner upper arm, and on top of the feet. This allows you to inhale the aromas during different yoga poses.
    • Adding a drop to cotton pads and storing them in glass jars. Inhaling at the start, before savasana, or specific poses.
  • Breathwork during a session and when not doing yoga
