There are a number of problems with special education in public schools. First, the funding is not always adequate, which means that many schools do not have the resources they need to provide a quality education for students with extra challenges. Second, the way special education is implemented in public schools often relies on a one-size-fits-all approach, which can be ineffective and/or harmful to individual students.
