Alcohol, drugs, gambling. shopping, sex and food are all known addictions; however one category is missing - that of processed food. Yes, that's right, not just food but processed food. Many processed foods have been chemically engineered to have the same effect on your brain as drugs like cocaine or heroin. It's important to realize that if you find yourself craving processed foods that is NOT a mistake because there is a multi-billion dollar industry working against you. Dr. Joan Ifland studies how processed food is engineered to cause addiction and, more importantly, what you can do to break that addiction.
