Ep 136 Vegan Headlines That Make Us Go GRRRRRR! A New Listener Recipe!
Manage episode 414011978 series 3008908
Hey Pickles!
We hope you're well.
This week we bring. you some fun facts about cucumbers in our Noteworthy segment. You know we love cucumbers. Hey! It's in our name!
We have a new Listener recipe from Listener, Sarah W. It's Loaded Greek Falafel French Fries!
Here's her recipe, if you would like to make it for yourself!
Sarah Woodard’s Greek Falafel Fries
I figured this out trying to recreate one of my favorite delivery items because $30 for one dinner gets nuts quickly!
Ingredients:
Frozen fries. I like the “golden fries” size for this. Read packages! You wouldn’t believe how many brands have potato as the LAST ingredient 🤦🏻♀️
Cabbage - buy whole or pre-chopped
1 3-oz can of sliced black olives (as you’ve told us before, read the ingredients to be sure they’re actually vegan)
Hummus (oddly, some brands of hummus aren’t vegan either, so be careful…)
Falafel balls (I again like the Franklin Farms ones)
Banana peppers (as with olives, read to be sure they’re vegan)
Directions:
Prepare a serving of frozen fries per the package instructions (or be like me and play around with microwaving them)
Ditto on the falafel balls
Chop cabbage - however much you want.
When fries are cooked, top with the chopped cabbage, hummus, olives, falafel balls, olives, and banana peppers
Serve and eat
For a variation, if you can find vegan feta that would be fun, too!
ENJOY! 😀
Our Main Topic is Vegan Headlines That Make Us Go GRRRRR. There's a ton of misinformation out there about veganism & plant based eating. We'll share some headlines & articles that just might make you a little miffed!
We have a new Vegan Org of the Week: Generation Vegan!
Lear more about their work here: https://genv.org
We also have a new tip To Help You Help Others to Go Vegan & Stay Vegan!
All that and a healthy dose of our usual shenanigans!
Thank you so much for spending some of your time with us.
Love, Sam & Christine
